Hand-feeding dolphins (and egrets)
It costs seven dollars a person to feed the dolphins at Sea World but it is worth every penny. Guaranteed close encounters and lots of opportunities to actually stroke these lovely creatures. (Of course, my eldest daughter managed to pet one without a fish in her hand).
It costs five dollars a tray of fish to feed the stingrays in the ray pool. But you are more likely to feed the assembled aggressive egrets instead. (I honestly didn't mind so much when they snatched the fish right from my hand...)
A great opportunity, then, for ridiculous close-ups, especially nice during breeding season. No full aigrette action, but lots of wispy hints.
Not just snowy, but great egrets too. (There was even a wood stork on a mound overlooking the sea lion exhibit).
