Backyard Parula
Meanwhile, at my house, the traveling band of warblers (yellow-rumped, black and white, northern parula) have shifted to the backyard hemlocks. They make quite a pleasant sound all together. Today I actually saw the parula (tiny, kinglet sized), and I swear it was collecting nest material. [This is actually highly unlikely. Northern Parula are extremely rare breeders in Massachusetts, favoring a hanging lichen for nests].
