Orchard Oriole, confirmed CRP breeder

Orchard Oriole, Charles River Peninsula, Needham, MA

There are going to be baby orchard orioles at the CRP this spring.

I had my eyes on this female.

All of a sudden she started purring. Here comes the male.

Quick kiddies, avert your eyes! (A blurry shot anyway...)

I wonder where the nest is.

In other CRP news, the blue-wing and the tanager are gone but the bobolinks are still hanging around. No sign of taking up residence. They are still up in the tall trees.

And our newest arrival!

Ruby-throated hummingbird

Oh, that's neat about the orchard orioles. I had an Orchard Oriole nest in my maple tree this spring and the babies just left the nest yesterday. I think there were 4 total, but my cats got 2 of them :( It was a sad/happy day. I did get some great pictures of the babies though and will be blogging about it in the next few days.

Thanks for sharing!
