I couldn't resist
American Robin on nest, Mount Auburn Cemetery
Dear reader, after all my sermonizing yesterday about staying local, I must confess I went to Mount Auburn Cemetery. The day was bright and warm, the warblers active, how could I resist? I told myself I was going for high quality photos (bright day and all). Of course, the warblers were all in the shade! D'oh.
Here's a grainy northern parula.
A Nashville warbler chewing on a cut-worm.
And a complete but welcome surprise, white-crowned sparrow.
Back in Needham, the savannah sparrows are everywhere.
HAPPY NATIONAL BIRD DAY, ALL!
