Mergansers and Mute Swans

Mute Swan, Charles River Peninsula, Needham, MA

It's been a while since I've seen swans at the Charles River Peninsula. This one was one of two I watched floating down the river. When they reached a spot that was iced over they carefully got onto the ice and walked across. (See video below).

Also, a pair of common merganser drakes gliding up the river.

I haven't seen any house activity among the bluebirds but they are clearly getting ready.
