Bluebirds at Dawn
Eastern Bluebirds, Charles River Peninsula, Needham, MA
This couple was very approachable this morning. They seem to have their nesting box staked out (that spot is a favorite of the tree swallows, I regret to say; we'll see if the bluebirds can hold onto it).
Birdsong recordings around dawn:
1) Bluebirds (a little better than the video, no airplane overhead)
2) Cardinal and song sparrow (can you hear the white-throated sparrow?)
3) Downy woodpecker and Canada geese, plus red-winged blackbird
Some interesting flicker interaction. I'm assuming a male in hot pursuit of a somewhat cooler female. Yellow shafts shining in the dawn sun (seen, if not cleanly photographed...)
