September at the CRP
Turtle-heads in bloom.
Kingfisher fishing from the powerline. Nearby swallows are starting to stage.
Fields are nearly empty of bird sound. Only goldfinch twitters and sweet bluebird calls (there's a spotted juvie!)
Phoebes join in flycatching from milkweed stalks.
The red-tail lets me approach.
Watching me carefully.
One step more and it nonchalantly flies off.
